CORBELLETTI DESIGN CHARRETTE

Year 2 Competition
Fall, 2018
24” x 36”
Competition Finalist

The annual Corbelletti Design Charrette is a week-long design competition held within Penn State’s School of Architecture. Hugo Dworzak was this year’s guest juror, coining the competition “Float and Fly”; our submission had to address an environmental issue while simultaneously featuring a machine that both “floats” and “flies”.

Due to global climate change and rising sea levels, Venice is predicted to be underwater within the next century, completely submerged within the millennium. To combat this issue, illuminated tunnels will be implemented where the canals once stood. Venice, inverted. Pedestrians will “float” through the canals, while gondolas “fly” above, two machines equally as important as the structure itself.

CORBELLETTI DESIGN CHARRETTE

Year 3 Competition
Fall, 2019
24” x 36”
Competition Finalist

2019’s Corbelletti Competition was titled “The Invisible Inside”, and we were given a week to interpret that and curate a hand-drawn poster board.

Buildings, the design, construction, and operation, currently represent over 40% of the national energy consumption. Both residential and commercial buildings absorb over 50% of the natural gas consumption and more than 70% of national electricity consumption, while also contributing to over 1/3 of greenhouse gas emissions. Energy flies under the radar, with a significant number of Americans uninformed of how their own home is powered.

UFFIZI GALLERY

Year 1 Visual Communication
Fall, 2017
24” x 36”

The Uffizi Gallery is an art museum in the Historic Centre of Florence. To create this image, I superimposed the plan of the Uffizi with a section cut through the gallery. Then I added a one point perspective so that the point of view on the plan was the same point as the vanishing point in the perspective.
