A multimedia center has the capability to unite a community through art, music, and technology, perpetuating an established culture and promoting new interpretations of expression. A multimedia center is nothing without the surrounding neighborhood, as it stands for and by the community. Inviting the street and the community into a multimedia center is essential.

Through an analysis of geometries and their relationship to movement and flux, the basis of this design is defined by the interplay of two forms. A regular rectangular form acts as the “skin” of the building, following the standardized lot lines of the street wall, while a skewed core rests inside. The structural core embodies the dynamic essence of the streetscape, starkly juxtaposing its literal regularity. The dynamism of the core supports the entirety of the building, as does the dynamism of the streetscape, and this form also guides the circulation. Hidden within the core of the building lies the programmatic elements most essential to a multimedia center, fueling the gradual circulation in and around the core.
